On Friday, July 16 Art In Bloom opened in all three of the Wilber Mansion Galleries.  The show, based solely on pieces exhibited in the Mansion Show were selected and reinterpreted in floral arrangements.  This show demonstrates the depth of talent amongst the Oneonta Federated Garden Club.  The Popular Choice Award went to Susan Guinan for her piece complementing Charles Hartley's painting of the Gorilla in the Jungle.  The miniature bananas did it!

On the heels of the Mansion Show and Art in Bloom the Upper Catskill Community Council of the Arts is hosting the first annual Fiber Art Show, opening July 30.

Hanford Mills Museum is hosting Milller's Harvest Festival & Folkways Fair featuring the First Annual Folkways Craft Demonstration Fair.  For more information on application click here.

Art and the Grief Process

Hilton Bloom Art Studio in Gilbertsville hosts this unique show exhibits work from a variety of artists.  Opening reception is Friday, July 23 from 5-8PM and the show continues through Monday September 6.

The Decentralization Grant

The Community Arts Partnership Decentralization Grant is made available by the New York State Council of the Arts for cultural and diverse programming throughout New York State.  In Otsego County this grant is administered by the Upper Catskill Community Council of the Arts.  Any organization within Otsego County with a 501(c)3 or an individual artist with the sponsorship of a 501(c)3 may apply.

Strategic Opportunity Stipend Grant

SOS, a project of the New York Foundation for the Arts is designed to help individual artists of all disciplines take advantage of specific unique opportunities that will significantly benenfit their work or career devleopment.

Artists woring in all disciplines (including literature, media arts, visual arts, music a nd therater) may request support ranging from $200 to $1500 for specific, forthcoming opportunities.  These do not include works-in-progress.

NYFA has changed the parameters of the program and has decided on two rounds instead of three this fiscal year.  Applications for the First Round for opportunities November 2010- May 2011 are due September 24, 2010.  This is not a postmark date.  They must be recieved at the Council no later than 5PM that day.
